We just wrapped up our second L. C. King Artist in Residence program, this time featuring Lily Horton of Kingsport, TN. She is a mixed media artist born and raised in Northeast Tennessee. Her work has a heavy emphasis on process and human interaction. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors in Fine Art through the Honors College at East Tennessee State University.
In her statement, she writes “My work has a heavy emphasis on process, which is why L. C. King Manufacturing attracted me as an artist. The factory is more than a set of machines on an assembly line. From the way in which jackets are bundled, to the hand painted blue coating on the factory windows, I chose to focus on imagery which highlights the people behind the process. All images were shot using a normal lens and ambient light within the factory.”
